Solid Waste Management & Recovery Facility

The Montecalvo Material Recovery Facility (MMRF), a Bayshore Family company, is committed to providing a range of services that are both convenient and environmentally responsible. MMRF holds a solid waste permit issued by the NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) to operate a transfer station/material recovery facility. Our goal is to recover 75% or more of the materials accepted that would otherwise have been landfilled.

We accept the following materials:

  • Type 13 – bulky waste – such as appliances and furniture
  • Type 13C – construction and demolition debris – wood, masonry, concrete, brick, block, plaster, wallboard, cardboard, paper, plastic, metals, etc.
  • Type-27 – dry industrial waste – impacted soils, aggregates, oily debris, etc.

Material Recovery

Our material recovery process offers meticulous up-front removal of non-recoverable materials before processing. Materials recovered through MMRF are recycled or otherwise repurposed in order for us to best preserve the New Jersey environment. Traditional commodities; paper, plastic, metal, cardboard and paper, are sent to end markets for the manufacturing of new containers and products. Clean dimensional lumber is sized and marketed for landscape mulch. The adulterated wood is blended with a small fraction of paper, cardboard and plastics to manufacture an engineered bio-fuel, which is used at industrial facilities as a fuel source.

Environmental Commitment in New Jersey

Montecalvo Material Recovery Facility offers LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) waste management recycling and tracking programs, as well as audits in New Jersey. The Montecalvo Material Recovery Facility services qualify for LEED credit under the U.S. Green Building Council. As a licensed large-quantity handler, we also accept consumer electronic waste (e-Waste) at MMRF, including computers, monitors, scanners, modems, printers, cables, keyboards, televisions and telephones.
