Renewable energy comes from sources that cannot be depleted – such as solar, wind, biomass and geothermal power. Renewable energy is preferable to fossil fuels, such as coal, natural gas and oil which exhaust natural resources and contribute significantly to air emissions, other pollution and to global climate change. Understanding this, Bayshore Recycling is leading the charge with a corporate vision to operate 100% green businesses, powered 100% by renewable energy.
Bayshore Recycling is committed to energy self-sufficiency and the maximum use of on-site renewable energy, generated from Bayshore’s recycling operations. The clear corporate goal is to run 100% green businesses, powered 100% by on-site generated sources of renewable energy. Achieving this goal will be accomplished through the use of rooftop solar energy, biomass conversion to energy, wind power and the potential use of tidal energy from the flow of the Raritan River.
Solar power is harnessed from the energy supplied naturally by the sun through the use of solar panels mounted strategically on rooftops. Bayshore has plans to add rooftop solar panels on our existing and planned structures in the future. Our commitment to solar power is at the center of our corporate vision, which you can read about here.
Engineered biofuel is manufactured by Bayshore Recycling through the processing of wood and construction & demolition debris. Materials such as wood, corrugated cardboard, paper and plastic which are not economically recovered through traditional recycling outlets are used to create an engineered biofuel. This material has historically been shipped to facilities such as paper mills, to power their manufacturing operations. In the interest of future energy self-sufficiency, Bayshore hopes to process this material on-site at a biomass gasification facility for energy production and utilization toward reaching our energy self-sufficiency goals.
All of these renewable energy initiatives are at the core of our corporate vision. As a recycling and waste management organization, we are strongly committed to building a sustainable future. We hope that by being a model of sustainability, we can help communities throughout New Jersey and, by example, the world to maximize recycling and sustainable materials management while developing renewable energy solutions to satisfy their energy needs.
