Port Raritan Marine Terminal’s waterfront facility located directly on the sustainable Raritan River is actively operating in all capacities for loading, unloading and transport of aggregate materials via barge, ship, rail or truck. The facility has on-site rail and truck access/egress and weigh stations.

By promoting the use of the waterways as a method of shipping, PRMT hopes to assist in easing traffic congestion, alleviating air pollution and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. PRMT is currently in process with MARAD and others to develop a Short Sea Shipping Project that will help to better both the state of NJ and the US.

In addition to the movement  of aggregate, Short Sea Shipping, PRMT and Montecalvo Maritime Industries (MMI) are working on several other Maritime related projects, including but not limited to, bio-diesel and cellulosic ethanol storage, fresh water delivery, vessel lay berth, vessel shipyard repair, vessel storage / deliveries, and many other services dedicated to serving our NY and NJ Maritime community.

For dock capabilities, berth requests, marine management services, project development etc. or any additional information about our piers such as deep draft and air draft restrictions, please contact us with a request for information.

NOTE: The facility, as a ship yard, is currently not required to be regulated by MTSA (Marine Transportation Security Act of 2002 / 116 STAT. 2064 PUBLIC LAW 107–295—NOV. 25, 2002). However, due to PRMT’s dedication to our nation’s security from the waterfront, PRMT meets the requirements and has a submitted and approved Facility Security Plan in order to be able to operate during High Threat increased MARSEC levels. In addition to PRMT’s dedication to serving the maritime community, PRMT has a 24/7 active FSO (Facility Security Officer), CSO (Company Security officer), VSO (Vessel Security Officer) and PSA (Port Security Awareness Officer) licensed and certified by MARAD (US Maritime Administration under the US Department of Transportation) and DNV (Det Norske Veritas) marine class society in line with the ISPS (International Ship and Port Security) code and the MTSA as laid out by the USCG (United States Coast Guard) and the US Congress.
